The Central Maryland GPAA is dedicated to providing environmental education in the area of recreational gold prospecting and mineral collection by providing hands on activities, educational outings and exploratory hikes for the general public, youth groups and other organizations.

Did you know there is GOLD and other minerals in the creeks of Maryland?

Come out to one of our local events, a group dig, an overnight outing or attend a meeting and join the Central Maryland Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America as we explore Maryland's little known gold history and search for the lustrous yellow metal.

Who we are

Our vision is to give prospectors, rockhounds and mineral enthusiasts a place to gather and share their experiences while educating others about the importance of mineral extraction and creating a public awareness of ethical prospecting and collection methods.

​The Central Maryland GPAA was established in 2012 as an official chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America and is operated by Central Maryland Gold Prospectors, Inc., a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation.
